Back to Blogging (And Why Tiny Joys For Me Exists)
Welcome to the very first post of Tiny Joys For Me
Welcome to the very first post of Tiny Joys For Me.
I've been thinking a lot about what I should write about first. Should I introduce myself? Jump straight into the topics? Dive into my grief journey?
Instead, I thought I'd start with the question
Why Am I Blogging Again?
I grew up in the age of social media and also started blogging in the late 2000s through mid-2010s. Back then, blogs were where we documented our lives, shared genuine recommendations (ads or sponsored posts were super rare!), or wrote about what we were interested in.
Eventually, social media became the easier option as it was faster to post, easier to stay connected, and an essential marketing tool for all businesses.
All of that became my world.
I shared updates about work, pieces of my personal life, and whatever was happening at the time. But somewhere along the way, posting on social media started to feel exhausting. Then after my dad passed away, it became even harder to keep up with and, honestly, I didn't care for posting anymore 😅
I ended up archiving almost all of my posts, but kept only the moments that mattered most to me. As of now, I've mostly posted major life updates (which is super rare anyway LOL) or an occasional seasonal/yearly recap so my friends know I'm still here.
But even though I stepped away from posting regularly, I realized I still missed having a space to write.
Not because I wanted more followers or engagement, but because I missed having a space that didn't require everything to be perfectly curated. I didn't want to spend hours editing a 15-second video. I didn't want to try to fit everything in a short caption.
I wanted a space where I could share a favorite skincare product, a book I finished, random photos from everyday life, or whatever was on my mind.
Why "Tiny Joys"?
Over the past few years, I've noticed myself paying more attention to the smaller parts of life: buying a fresh new book, discovering skincare products that actually live up to the hype, treating myself to a refreshing iced coffee after a long morning walk, or picking out fresh flowers to liven up my bedroom.
Yes, these things aren't exactly life-changing. But, honestly, they do make up my ordinary life.
That's what I want for Tiny Joys For Me to be.
I plan to make this your typical lifestyle blog where I can share beauty favorites, book(s) I'm reading, places I love around Los Angeles, thoughts on navigating grief, and whatever else happens to inspire me along the way.
But, I'm also giving myself permission to approach blogging differently this time around.
Leaving Perfection Behind
For years, blogging was part of my work. It meant content calendars, keyword research, deadlines, analytics, and planning weeks (or even months) ahead. That is still a huge part of what I do for work, but eventually I realized I had started treating my personal blog the same way.
Instead of writing because I wanted to, I was trying to create the "right" content... whatever that meant! All of that took the fun out of it, so I'm letting go of that expectation.
Here's the deal:
I'm not setting a publishing schedule or aiming for a certain number of posts each month. I'd rather publish something I'm genuinely excited to share than write simply because it's time to post. If that means this blog is quiet for a week or two, that's okay.
My hope is that this becomes a space to collect memories, share recommendations, document what I'm learning, and have fun writing again.
If you've found your way here, thank you for reading. I'm excited to see where Tiny Joys For Me goes ♡
BTW - I'm not an expert, critic, or professional reviewer. I'm just documenting the things I love, the things I'm learning, and the occasional random thought. So think of this blog like it's a friendly, chaotic, or emotional convo with a friend? Does that sound too cliché?
Oh, and if my grammar isn't perfect or if a post feels a little unpolished, that's because it's genuinely me 😉
